Meeting with Ms Sarah Mitchell, coordinator, collaborations with African countries Linkoping University International Office, Dr Malin Lindqvist Appell, who is Vice-Dean at the Medical Faculty with special responsibility for the Moi University Exchange program, Prof Maria Sunnerhagen, our host and President of European Biophysics Society, Prof. Daniel Aili of Biomedical Engineering Research group, Dr. Clovis Takembo, University of Buea, Cameroon. The discussions centered on Scholarship opportunities for students in Protein Science and Chemistry at LiU .LiU has a long-standing collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at Moi funded by SIDA and AMPATH. A similar collaboration with SONAS and related Schools was discussed. MMUST will be getting equipment from EBSA courtesy of Dr. Philip Amuyunzu. The equipment will be used to study the biophysical interactions of proteins with potential of curbing some diseases. We also got a chance to visit the National Super Computing center. Researchers in Bioinformatics can come up with research projects. Link up with a PI from LiU and get access remotely to the Super Computing Services. We will be hosting Prof. Sunnerhagen and Prof. Juan to further strengthen the collaboration. The research visit successfully synthesized green nanoparticles that will be potentially applied in wound dressings.
